Reports for this years Snapper competition had been spasmodic to say the least. Charlie Grech had been fishing around the T1, T3 area and had been getting some fish. Most of us thought that that would be a good place to start.
The weather was definitely not going to trouble us this year as a northerly of about 5 knots was blowing.
For the competition we had a good roll up with a total of 15 members two non competitors and a junior non competitor taking part. What a great way to spend a Saturday evening.
The general area we fished for the greater part of the night it was relatively quiet. Over the 27meg radio however we continually heard reports of fish being taken around Frankston and Port Arlington areas.
When the fish did come on at our end of the bay they seemed to come with a rush.
Steve Gusman and crew of Dave Fleming and Bob Beeson had a top night with all three bagging out. A great effort on Steves behalf as skipper, he not only found the fish but also made sure that his crew all got into the action as well. Steves best fish tipped the scales at 5.6 kg. Steve later told us that burley and patience got the money on the night.

Others that also bagged out were Joe Donnini and Mick Molinaro.
Winning the competition for the night was Steve Gusman with three Snapper for a bag weight of 10.58 kg. His largest fish was the biggest for the night at 5.60 kg.
Joe Donnini was second and Mick Molinaro was third.
Total bag weight was 47.40 kg between 17 anglers. A very successful trip for all with good weather and great company.
