This years trip to Eden over the Easter break saw seven members, one junior member, and respective spouses, take the opportunity for a well deserved break away from work.
We were lucky enough to have reasonably good weather over the break, with some rain on mornings.
On the fishing side of things try as we might, the fish were either not on or not there.
Slimeys for bait were quite easy to get but unfortunately the Kings were not in the same areas that we fished for them.
Most members fished close in to shore usually no more than 3 kilometres from land. However the boys from Camp Chaos did go offshore twice. On both days Skipper Steve Gusman put the boys over Striped tuna. They were a lot of fun to catch and a couple were rescued from the berley pot for John Alexopoulos to further his culinary skills.
The Striped Tuna were caught on skirted lures. On breaking down the gear we did notice that one of the leaders had evidence of abrasion that is usually associated with a bill wrap from a Marlin. We did have a couple of short runs with no hook ups, now we know why.
On the social front, many a fine night was had by the open fire across from Camp Chaos. There were a couple of mornings that required an early morning walk along the beach to clear the head.
The wives kept themselves amused with some sightseeing and were treated to a night out at the renowned restaurant at the Boydtown resort. The quality of food and wine is highly recommended to any members that frequent the area in the future.
Julian Costa a junior took the honours on the fishing front with 4 Striped Tuna for a bag weight of 10.82 kg. His heaviest tuna at 4.2 kg. Not back for a young bloke on his first attempt at game fishing.
When I questioned Julian as to whether he would come again, his answer was an emphatic yes. The triple hook up that we had on our last trip out was one of the best adrenalin rushes he has ever experienced.
Whilst the trip did not yield the piscatorial thrills we were after it turned out to be a nice holiday. Many thanks to all who helped make the week a success.
