Preston Angling Club Reports

April 10-13th 2009 - Freshwater Kyalite

Twenty one members and friends journeyed to Kyalite for the Easter Break to fish the Edwardes River. The river was in good condition and steady albeit a bit low. Like all streams in south-eastern Australia a good flush would be most welcome. The weather conditions were perfect with warm sunny days.

The fishing was excellent for undersize cod and silver bream but size fish were hard to find and very spasmodic. Each day produced some nice fish for many fishing hours. The new cod size limit certainly reduced the chances of catching a table fish amongst the hundreds smaller fish that were returned to the water. Many year classes were in evidence. The protected silver bream also had many year classes including fish up to 40cm with quite a few exceeding 30cm.
