Preston Angling Club History
Preston Angling Club's history taken from the book
75 Years 1922 - 1997
75 Years of History and Progress

Seventy-five years ago (1922) a well-known Preston citizen, viz. Mr F.P. Bird J.P. inserted an advertisement in the local paper that he wsa convening a meeting in the Preston Library Hall, with the object of forming an angling club. What sound judgement and foresight was shown by Mr Bird. As we perused and browsed through the Minutes and Records of the club over the years, it is with pleasure that we present to you - "A Brief History of the Preston Angling Club and Fish Protection Society Incorporated" - for the past 75 Years.

This is not an all encompassing historical document, but I have endeavoured to put as much data and information as possible into a limited space and is written in the spirit, that it may be the means and inspiration to keep alive the spirit: That of Good Fellowship - that always exists amongst anglers.

The above is taken from the comments of the authors of the 25 year history of the club and is still as applicable today as it was then. I hope the following provides an insight into the history of our club and may the 100 year history book be written with as much enjoyment and interest as I have had in putting this brief history together.
